Box Score North Bay, ON – Nipissing Women's Volleyball got the job done in impressive fashion on Friday, Jan. 23, beating Trent 3-0 at RJS Athletic Centre.
Nipissing and Trent battled in the beginning of the first set, seeing the score be 10-9 for the Lakers. Nipissing found their footing and scored five of six points to build an 18-13 lead. Trent scored two more before Nipissing won seven of the next nine points to close the match 25-17. Oceane Raymond-Leduc sealed the set with a kill. Nipissng capitliazed off of Trent errors to help take a 1-0 lead.
In the second, Nipissing jumped out to a 10-4 lead off of key kills from Ramanda Bell, Oceane Raymond-Leduc and Anna Marie Horvat. Trent would score three points in a row before Nipissing took seven of the next eight points to lead 17-8. Trent would score four more points in the set to Nipissing's 12, as the Lakers led 2-0 off of a 25-12 win in the second set.
Nipissing again started strong in the third set, leading 11-3 from Cassie Robinson, Oceane Raymond Leduc, and Ramanda Bell kills. Trent would respond, winning four of the next five points to get into the set. Nipissing would respond by taking nine of the next twelve points, leading 20-9. Again capitalizing on key Trent errors, Nipissing won five of the next six points to close the set 25-11 and win the match 3-0.
Oceane Raymond-Leduc led Nipissing with 9 kills, 14 digs and 1 service ace. Anna Marie Horvat added 6 kills and 2 digs. Cassie Robinson scored 5 kills, 1 assist, 1 dig, and 2 blocks. Ava Vos scored two aces in a row in the second set.
The win moves Nipissing to 4-11 on the season. Lakers Women's Volleyball is back in action Saturday, January 24th at 2PM, again facing the Trent Excalibur at home.
