Thunder Bay, ON – Nipissing Women's Basketball suffered a 76-52 loss at the Lakehead Thunderwolves on the road Friday, Jan. 23.
Nipissing outscored Lakehead 15-10 in the first quarter. Then, Lakehead responded with a 28 point second quarter to Nipissing's 17 to take a 38-32 lead into halftime.
In the third, Lakehead took control of the game, outscoring Nipissing 21-8 to lead 59-40. The fourth quarter saw the Thunderwolves again outscore Nipissing, this time 17-12 to take a 76-52 win.
Nipissing's Nicole Budd led the Lakers with 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists in the loss. Taryn Gauthier scored 8 points and added 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Dominique Bouchard scored 8 of her own and added 1 rebound and 1 assist. Katelyn DeCook had 8 rebounds and 2 assists.
Nipissing scored five second chance points in the loss and totaled 34 points in the paint.
The loss moves Nipissing to a 4-12 record this season.
