North Bay, ON – With a shot at USports Nationals on the line, Nipissing Men's Volleyball will take on the Western Mustangs in the OUA Bronze Medal match on Friday, March 6 in London, Ontario.
The winner of this match will earn a spot in USports' Men's Volleyball Championship tournament hosted in Windsor, Ontario, from March 13-15.
Nipissing fell 0-3 to the Queen's Gaels in the OUA semifinal matches on Friday, Feb. 27. Western lost 1-3 to the Windsor Lancers on the same night, landing themselves in the third-place match with the Lakers.
Nipissing has faced Western twice already this season. On November 28, the Mustangs prevailed in a five-set showdown and RJS Athletic Centre. The Lakers took revenge the next afternoon, winning in five sets on November 29.
The two sides have produced two compelling, hard-fought matches in as many attempts and Friday night's contest is poised to be another.
"With a solid week of training, we are ready for a battle with Western. This group fully understands the privilege of still competing in March and would love to extend our season" said Nipissing Men's Volleyball Head Coach
Eric Yung.
"Historically, our matches with Western are tightly contested with many matches going the distance. However, our approach will remain the same, taking on the match one point at a time."
Lakers fans will not want to miss this game as MVB looks to secure a spot in USports Nationals.
