MEN'S SOCCER: LAKERS CLINCH FOURTH STRAIGHT POST-SEASON BERTH

While it wasn't the outcome, or weekend, the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team wanted, they aren't going to worry about just two games throughout what has been a pretty solid season to this point.

The Lakers dropped a pair of games down south, losing Saturday to Ryerson and Sunday to Toronto by a final of 3-0, but head coach Carlo DeVuono, while disappointed, said the team is already looking forward to their regular season finale and the post-season.

"We didn't capitalize on our three first half chances and it came back to bite us," he said.

Regardless of those losses, the results of the weekend throughout the OUA, the Lakers have qualified for the post-season once again.

At the end of the day, that is the first goal of the team and it's mission accomplished.

"We have made the playoffs for the fourth straight year. We have already accomplished our first goal of the season with making the playoffs," DeVuono said. "Now we're looking for a strong weekend in Kingston. And a playoff win the next week."

The Lakers will close out the season with two games on the road in Kingston, facing Queens and RMC.

Currently Nipissing sits fifth in the East Division, six points behind Carleton for home field advantage and one point up on UOIT for sixth place, the final playoff position.

As of now, the Lakers would face the Ravens in Ottawa in the first round of the playoffs, but there is still a possibility of changes in the standings, so Nipissing will have to wait to see who and where they play.

Game times are set for 2:15 p.m. Saturday versus Queens and Sunday against RMC.
