It was 70 minutes of excellent soccer, but unfortunately, the last 20 hurt the Nipissng Lakers men's soccer team.

Queens scored five second half goals, including four in the final 20 minutes as they defeated the Lakers 6-2 Saturday at Nipissing Field.

Prior to the Gaels late push, the Lakers were playing one of their better games of the season and led 2-1 at halftime.

And even with the score tied, Nipissing looked like a threat to walk away with the three points.

Darius Tignanelli opened the scoring just before the 20 minute mark of the first half, pouncing on a loose puck after a great run from Ryan Roy, who took a perfect pass from Nathan Zak.

Tignanelli made no mistake and gave Nipissing their first of two leads on the day.

After Queens tied the game just under three minutes later, Roy gave the advantage back to the Lakers, as he picked up his second point of the game, scoring his fourth goal of the season.

He now has four goals and four assists on the season.

That lead last into halftime and the first 14 minutes of the second half, but that is when Queens took over.

After tying the game, they kept the momentum and took the lead at the 73-minute mark, followed that up with a penalty kick goal and added two more late to grab the victory.

Nicholas Cirullo was busy and good, making 15 saves, but suffers the loss, while Nipissing managed eight shots on net during the 90  minutes.

The Lakers are back in action Sunday as they close out their season against RMC at 2:15pm.

Prior to kickoff, the Lakers will honour their senior players with a ceremony beginning around 2pm.
