It was a tough day for the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer despite, despite a late push for the post-season.
The Lakers couldn't manage much in the way of offence this afternoon and the Queens Gaels capitlized on their chances, shutting the Lakers out by a final of 3-0.
With the loss, the Lakers will fall short of the playoffs.
Laura Callender scored twice in the first half, including a goal just three minutes in, which turned out to be the winner, to pace the Gaels to the win.
Tara Bertram added the other goal for Queens, a second half tally and her second point of the game, to seal the win.
Nipissing had their chances throughout the 90 minutes, but were unable to find the back of the net.
They finished with seven shots on goal, while Queens had 11.
Both
Renee Clarke and
Andrea Young had two shots apiece to lead Nipissing.
Carlee Bennard was busy and very strong, but was tagged with the loss.
Nipissing will close out their regular season with a home game Sunday against RMC at the Education Centre Field at Nipissing University.
Kick-off is set for noon and a ceremony to honour the Lakers graduating players will take place prior to the beginning of the game.
