The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team just keeps on rolling.
It's as simple as that, as they are now 8-1-0 on the season thanks to another win, this time a 4-1 triumph over the Laurentian Voyageurs this afternoon in Sudbury.
The Lakers scored four straight goals after surrendering the game's opening tally, including three in the third to claim the win.
Laurentian scored just before the midway point of the second period, after the teams went to the dressing room tied 0-0 after 20 minutes.
Taylor McManus tied the game five minutes later to send the teams to the second intermission tied 1-1.
In the third, it was all Lakers, as they scored three goals, one being an empty netter to pick up the three points.
Melissa Tolton scored her first OUA goal early to give Nipissing the lead,
Jade Gauthier scored the insurance marker and
Sam Strassburger added the empty-net goal to cap the win.
Strassburger also picked up an assist, as did
Stacey Henshaw.
Jackie Rochefort made 32 saves and was strong, as always, especially in the second period, where she made 14 stops.
Nipissing returns home for a pair of games next weekend, hosting the Guelph Gryphons in a first place showdown Friday night, before facing off against Brock in the second game of the weekend, Saturday.
Puck drop both nights is set for 4:30pm at Memorial Gardens.
