Despite the final score, you can describe Friday night's loss by the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team as pretty frustrating.
The final was a 20 point difference – 79-59 for the Ravens, but the Lakers only trailed by three after the first, seven at half and 11 after three.
All those scores were in striking distance as the teams went into the fourth quarter, but the Ravens pulled away with a big fourth and handed Nipissing their third straight loss.
The Lakers held a number of leads in the first quarter, but as time ran down, the Ravens jumped back in front.
In the second, the game was tied 19-19, as Nipissing pulled back into the game, but eight straight points put Carleton back in front – a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Nipissing did manage to cut into the deficit in a big way, cutting the Ravens lead down to two, but again, the Ravens did enough as they held on to their lead and extended it late in the half.
With the score 41-38 Ravens, Nipissing looked like they were in a position to tie the game or even take the lead, however, the veteran Ravens pulled away again and this time it was enough.
The 11 point lead after the third was a nice cushion and they had nine to that advantage in the fourth and sealed up the 20 point victory.
Jaaden Lewis led the Lakers with 17 points,
Marcus Lewis had 14 and
Justin Shaver had 13 in tonight's game.
???????Nipissing faces Ottawa Saturday night to close out the weekend.
