It was a perfect way to finish the weekend for the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team, who lost a heartbreaker Friday night.

After coming up short against Guelph, losing 2-1 despite a late push and a number of good chances, the Lakers bounced back and earned a 3-1 comeback victory over the Western Mustangs Saturday night.

On Friday night, Erik Robichaud had the lone Nipissing goal from Danny Desrochers and Guillaume Naud.

Domenic Graham made 29 saves for the Lakers, but it tagged with the loss. Final shots were 31-29 in favour of Guelph.

Saturday, Nipissing responded in a big way.

After trailing 1-0, Colin Campbell tied the game and Dylan Staples scored what would be the game-winner in the third period, as Nipissing picked up a much-needed victory.

Brock Morrison added an empty-netter to secure the win, while Domenic Graham was good and busy, making 44 saves for the victory.

The Lakers will now wrap up their first semester schedule with a pair of road games at Windsor on Dec. 2 and 3.

Nipissing is currently three points out of a playoff spot, but there is plenty of action left in the season.
