A bounce here or there and it could have been a different story, but unfortunately, it didn't happen for the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team.
The Lakers closed out the first half of the season on the road, facing the Windsor Lancers for a pair of games, dropping both by a single goal.
Friday afternoon, the Lakers fought back from a 4-1 deficit and pulled within a goal, but were unable to tie things up and came up on the losing end of a tight contests.
Danny Desrochers and
Dylan Staples each had a goal and an assist, while
Taylor Davis added the other marker for Nipissing, who scored twice in the third period to close the gap.
Domenic Graham made 22 saves in that contest, but was tagged with the loss.
On Saturday, the Lakers fired 38 shots towards the Lancer net, but once again, came up on the wrong end of a one-goal decision, losing 2-1.
Desrochers scored again and
Talor Joseph was good in net, making 34 saves in the loss.
The Lakers now have 11 games left on the schedule in the second semester, which begins Jan. 6 on home ice.
Currently, Nipissing sits five points out of a playoff spot, trailing Ottawa, who sits in eighth place.
The Lakers (5-11-1) will face Laurier and Waterloo when they resume play in the second half of the year.
