From one historic night to another, the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team keeps coming up big.
The Lakers advanced to the second round of the OUA Playoffs, and their first ever series win after sweeping the Queens Gaels - winning in overtime at home and edging the Gaels 3-2 in Kingston.
Nipissing built up a 3-0 lead on goals by
Jade Gauthier and two by
Carly Marchment and held on for the 3-2 win.
Gauthier's goal was unassisted, while
Bronwyn Bolduc, Wednesday's hero, and
Kayla Carter earned assists on Marchment's first tally.
Brooklyn Irwin and
Stacey Henshaw picked up the helpers on Marchment's second goal, which turned out to be the game-winner.

Jackie Rochefort made 28 saves including 15 in the middle frame in the victory
Shots ended up 31-30 in favour of Nipissing.
The Lakers will now await their second round opponent which will be decided by the end of the weekend.
Although not finalized, Nipissing will likely host Game 1 of Round 2 Wednesday night at 7pm at Memorial Gardens.
