The Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team was unable to hand the powerful Carleton Ravens their first loss of the season, Friday night.
The Lakers trailed early and couldn't recover, losing 102-59 to the undefeated Ravens, who continue to lead the North Division, along with Ottawa.
It was a slow start for Nipissing, as they were down 9-2 in the first few minutes and couldn't recover, down 30-10 after the first.
From the second quarter on, the Lakers improved both offensively and defensively, but the Ravens did just enough to continue to extend their lead.
After 20 minutes, the Ravens led Nipissing 51-21.
In the second half, Nipissing managed to put up 38 points, compared to the Ravens 51, as they equaled their first half output.
In the fourth, Nipissing's best, the teams tied 26-26, but it was too late for Nipissing to mount a comeback, as they suffered the loss.
Marcus Lewis and
Justin Shaver each had 14 points in the loss.
The Lakers will look to bounce back Saturday night, as they stay in Ottawa, this time to battle the Gee Gees.
Game time is set for 8pm.
