It continues to be tough sledding for the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team, who can't seem to catch a break, despite strong efforts and great chances.
The Lakers were shutout Sunday afternoon, as the Ryerson Rams escaped North Bay with a 2-0 win over Nipissing at Scollard Hall.
In a tight game, with neither team allowing many good opportunities or finding free spaces, the Lakers did manage a few chances, mostly off free-kicks, but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Lakers have managed just one goal in their past four games.
The Rams scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the 30 th minute and added another late marker, making it 2-0 and securing their victory.
The second Rams goal came in the 79 th minute.
While they only saw two shots make their way to the goalie, Nipissing did put on a lot of pressure and had shots miss by inches, deflect wide and some were blocked before they reached the goalkeeper.
Achuthan Shanmugaratnam finished with six saves, including a few late beauties that kept the game within reach for Nipissing.
The Lakers will wrap up their regular season schedule next weekend as they host Trent and UOIT at Scollard Hall.
Game times are set for 2:15pm.
