If you don't count two empty-net goals in the third period of the first game against Western, the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team hasn't allowed a goal in eight periods.
They recorded their second straight shutout win Saturday, as they blanked Laurentian 3-0 in Sudbury.
Jackie Rochefort was perfect in net making 23 saves and three different goal scorers powered the Nipissing attack.
After a scoreless first period,
Zosia Davis found the back of the net for what turned out to be the game-winner in the second period, after a set up by Sam Strassburger and
Bronwyn Bolduc.
Leading 1-0 after 40 minutes, the Lakers put the game away in the third, as
Kaley Tienhaara and
Maria Dominico each scored to secure the victory.
Hunter Mosher,
Brooklyn Irwin and Davis with her second point of the night, earned assists on the goals.
Rochefort was back between the pipes and picked up the shutout.
After suffering a setback in their season opener, the Lakers have now won two in a row and haven't allowed a goal, improving to 2-1-0.
They hit the road again this weekend, heading to Kingston to face Queens and Oshawa to face UOIT.
The win also gives Nipissing another point in the 705 Challenge Cup, which now sits at 3-2 in favour of Laurentian.
