After a night where they likely deserved better, the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team was unable to grab a point against one of the top teams in the OUA.
A 4-1 loss Friday night was followed up by a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the McGill Redmen Saturday at Memorial Gardens.
McGill peppered the Lakers net and goalie
Domenic Graham, finishing with 47 shots and managed to sneak four goals by him, before
Brent Moran took over in the third period, making 10 saves on 10 shots.
After a scoreless first, the teams combined for five goals in the second frame.
McGill went up 2-0 before
Brock Morrison found the back of the net to cut into the Lakers deficit.
Matt Donnelly and
Harrison Harper earned assists on the goal.
Unfortunately, McGill would score twice more after Morrison's first of the year to go up 4-1 after 40 minutes.
In the third, more shots by both teams, but nothing on the scoreboard in terms of goals.
The final shots read 47-21 in favour of McGill, as they walk away with two points after their victory over Nipissing.
The Lakers are back in action next weekend, when they host a pair of games – Friday versus UOIT and Saturday against Queens.
Puck drop is 7:30pm both nights at Memorial Gardens.
