WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: LAKERS DROP A PAIR ON THE ROAD

It wasn't the type of road trip the Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team had in mind when they hopped on the bus Thursday afternoon.

Nipissing finished the weekend 0-2, taking on two strong opponents away from home.

The Lakers suffered their second straight loss, falling 61-42 to the Brock Badgers Friday night in St. Catherines.

Nakissa Koomalsingh and Hiedi Smith led the Lakers with eight points each, while Alexe Galipeau-Wilson added seven in tonight's loss at Brock.

Looking to bounce back, the Lakers were unable to grab a weekend split as they came up short, losing to McMaster Saturday, 71-42 on the road in Hamilton.

Leading the way offensively for the Lakers was Natalie Martinez who had 10 points, while Nicole Kordez had seven and Heidi Smith added six in the loss.

Nipissing returns home for a pair of games next weekend; facing Algoma Friday night and Guelph Saturday night.

Tip-off for both games is 6pm at the RJS Athletic Centre.
