It was a tough weekend for the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team, as they lost a pair of one-goal games on the road.
A pair of 3-2 losses to the Queens Gaels and UOIT Ridgebacks saw the Lakers pick up a single point this past weekend.
Friday, the Lakers came out on the wrong end of a 3-2 decision against the Gaels, who scored twice in the second period to claim the victory.
Marilyn Fortin and
Kaley Tienhaara scored for Nipissing in the first period to give them a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Ava Keis earned an assist on Fortin's first OUA goal.
The Gaels scored twice in the middle frame and held on in the third for the win.
Danika Ranger suffered her first loss of the season, but finished with 28 saves.
Saturday, the Lakers built up a 2-0 lead in the first period, but were unable to hold on, earning a single point in an overtime loss.
Bronwyn Bolduc opened up the scoring with a shorthanded tally in the first period.

Sam Strassburger, it gave the Lakers a 1-0 lead.
Madison LaPlante scored her first OUA goal less than two minutes later to give Nipissing a two goal advantage.
After a scoreless second, UOIT responded with two goals in the third period to tie the game and found the back of the net in the extra frame to grab the additional point.
Jackie Rochefort finished the game with 26 saves, as the Lakers outshot the Ridgebacks 33-29.
Nipissing remains on the road, heading to Brock and Guelph for a pair of games this weekend.
