MEN'S HOCKEY: TOUGH OUTING FOR THE LAKERS

Friday night was a tough one for the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team, as they continue their march to the post-season.

That march hit a major bump at the hands of the Brock Badgers, who topped the Lakers by a final of 5-0.

The Badgers used a three-goal second period to blow the game open and secured the win with a tally in the third period.

Brock grabbed an early 1-0 with the lone goal of the opening period.

The shots were even 9-9, but the Badgers took a lead into the intermission.

In the second, the teams combined for 26 shots, but it was the Badgers that were able to find the net, putting three past Lakers starter Jeremy Pominville, who finished the game with 28 saves.

Down 4-0 after two, the Lakers pushed in the third period, putting 13 shots towards the Badgers net, but were unable to ripple the twine.

Brock added one to cap off the scoring and make the final 5-0.

Shots finished 34-33 in favour of the Lakers, but Brock was able to come away with the two points and put Nipissing in a tough spot, needing to run the table for the rest of the season to be able to make the playoffs.

That effort begins Saturday night, when the Lakers host the York Lions at Memorial Gardens.

Puck drop is set for 7:15pm.
