Box Score 1 It was a mixed weekend for the Nipissing Lakers men's volleyball team as they hit the road to take on Toronto and Ryerson.
The Lakers had won three in a row entering the weekend, extended that to four with a win over Toronto, but had their streak stopped, as they came up short in a five-set thriller against Ryerson.
Saturday, the Lakers won the final three sets of the match to claim the victory over Toronto, as they won 25-21, 25-19 and 25-19 after losing the opening set 25-12.
Came Branch led the way with 20 points,
Liam Ludlow had eight and
Warren Taylor chipped in with seven through four sets.
On Sunday, the Lakers and Rams engaged in a thrilling match that went the distance.
Nipissing took the first set 25-20 before the Rams won the next two, 25-22 and 25-18.
The Lakers avoided the loss with a 25-23 victory in the fourth set to force the fifth and deciding game.
In the fifth, the Rams outlasted Nipissing 17-15 to take home the victory.
Branch had another strong game with 16 points, Taylor added another 12.5 and
Curtis MacPherson and
Jeremie Murray each added 11 points.
The Lakers are on the road this weekend, as they travel to take on Western and Windsor.
