Box Score 1 The Nipissing Lakers women's volleyball team ran into a bit of a speed bump on their road, hopefully, to the OUA post-season.
After four straight wins, the Lakers have now lost three in a row, including a pair on the weekend on the road, to Toronto 3-0 and Ryerson 3-1.
Saturday, the Lakers started strong, kept pace with a tough Toronto team, but faded in the second and third set, losing 25-20, 25-10 and 25-14.
Erika Lapierre led the way offensively with seven points,
Annabelle Harvey had four, while
Shayla Kessler and
Madison Murphy each chipped in with three.
Looking to bounce back Sunday, the Lakers played a strong game, responding after a disappointing loss.
After losing the first set 25-16, Nipissing answered and took down Ryerson 25-20.
The set loss was just the seventh this season for Ryerson and first on home court, so the Lakers gathered some momentum heading into the third set.
Unfortunately Ryerson responded and Nipissing was unable to sustain their pressure, losing 25-15 in the final two sets of the match.
Kathryn Gribbon had a very strong game, earning 11 points, while
Annabelle Harvey and
Vanessa Arbour picked up eight each and Erika Pierre chipped in with seven.
The Lakers remain on the road, looking ahead to Western and Windsor this weekend as they continue to search for a spot in the playoffs.
