Box Score 2 That's now five straight games with a point for the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team.
Thanks to a 1-0 win over the Trent Excalibur Saturday and a 1-1 draw versus the UOIT Ridgebacks Sunday afternoon, the Lakers are now 3-0-2 in their past five games and 6-3-3 overall, good for third place in the OUA East Division.
Nipissing began the weekend with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Trent.
Andrea Young found the back of the net, set up by
Madison Logan at the 29-minute mark to give the Lakers an early lead.
That ended up being all the scoring in the game, as Nipissing held on for the victory.
Jess Moran made four saves to earn the clean sheet in net.
In Sunday's game, there was some more excitement as the teams combined for 14 shots and two goals through 90 minutes.
UOIT scored early to take a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game.
It took until the final two minutes of the game for the Lakers to reply, but
Abby Wroe found the back of the net to even the score.
Mykaela Volpe was solid in goal, finishing with six saves.
Thanks to the four point weekend, the Lakers sit in third place with 21 points, one behind Queens and one up on UOIT.
Nipissing is off this weekend and will return to the pitch Oct. 13 and 14 when they host RMC and Queens before wrapping up the regular season on the road at Toronto and Ryerson the following weekend.
