Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team seems to enjoy playing on the road.
The Lakers improved to 4-2-0 on the season and an impressive 4-0-0 away from North Bay, as they earned two wins in Waterloo on the weekend, defeating the Waterloo Warriors 2-1 in overtime and the Laurier Golden Gawks 2-0.
Nipissing is now 2-0 in overtime games as well.
To open the weekend, the Lakers claimed the victory thanks to
Kaley Tienhaara's second overtime winner of the season.
After trailing 1-0, Tienhaara set up
Brianna Gaffney who tied the game with 1:45 left in the third period.
The goal set up Tienhaara's heroics, as she ended the game 1:36 into the extra period, giving Nipissing the extra point.
Kaitlyn McManus and
Maria Dominico also grabbed assists on the two goals.
Danika Ranger made 13 saves for the victory.
Sunday night, the Lakers did all their damage in the second period with Tienhaara scoring again, this time on the power play.
The goal was the eventual game-winner and was set up by
Zosia Davis and
Jetta Derenoski.
Jordan Ashe potted her first career OUA goal late in the middle frame to secure the victory.
Dominico picked up her second point of the weekend with the lone assist.
Ranger was perfect in net, making 28 saves for the shutout win.
Nipissing will return home when they host the Laurentian Voyageurs Friday night.
Puck drop is set for 7:30pm at Memorial Gardens.
