Box Score It was a tough nice down the highway for the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey team, Wednesday night.
The Lakers came out on the wrong end of a 7-2 decision, losing to the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury in a rare mid-week game.
Despite outshooting the Voyageurs, the Lakers were unable to muster up much offence and allowed a shorthanded goal and a power play mark in the loss.
After trailing 2-0 after the first period, Nipissing replied on the power play early in the second period.
Drake Lindsay potted his first of the year, set up by
Colby Tower and
Deverick Ottereyes.
Laurentian would rebuild their two goal lead, scoring just over a minute later and added on to that at the midway point of the period.
Erik Robichaud found the back of the net late to cut into the Lakers' deficit as they trailed 4-2 after 40 minutes.
Laurentian sealed the win with three goals in the third period, including an empty-netter to walk away with the win and two points.
The loss is the Lakers third straight.
Brent Moran is tagged with the loss, returning to the net after missing some time.
He finished with 25 saves, while Nipissing fired 37 shots at the Laurentian net, but only managed a pair of tallies.
The Lakers will look to get back in the win column Friday when they hit the road and head to Oshawa to battled UOIT.
