Box Score A tough second half hurt the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team Friday night in their home opener.
The Lakers were outscored 49-37 in the second half after an even first half and came up short, losing 83-73 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
Nipissing came out strong and built up a 22-20 advantage after 10 minutes of play.
An even second quarter saw the Lakers take a 36-34 advantage to the halftime break after playing a solid 20 minutes.
In the third quarter, Lakehead stormed back with 27 points and took a five point lead into the final frame.
Nipissing was unable to mount a comeback as Lakehead extended their lead by five more points to finish with a 10 point victory, 83-73.
A great first half wasn't enough as Nipissing falls to 0-2 on the season.
Marcus Lewis led the #Lakers attack with 24 points,
Justin Hill had 15 and
Marvin Ngonadi added 14 in tonight's game.
Nipissing hosts McMaster Friday night and Brock Saturday night next weekend.
