MEN'S SOCCER: LAKERS ANSWER TOUGH LOSS WITH CONVINCING WIN

Box Score After a disappointing loss Friday night at home, the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team bounced back nicely Sunday on the road.

The Lakers erased any memory of the 2-0 loss to the Laurentian Voyageurs with an impressive 2-0 victory of their own in Sudbury.

The win gave Nipissing another win in both the Riley Gallo Cup and 705 Challenge Cup, but the Riley Gallo Cup ended up staying with Laurentian due to goals for and against in the Vees favour.

Jamal Brown continued his strong start to the season, notching another goal on a penalty kick.

Brown goal, which was the eventual game-winner, came at the 34-minute mark.

Nipissing sealed the win with a goal early in the second half when Owen O'Leary found the back of the net to put the Lakers up 2-0.

From there, they cruised to the win and outshot Laurentian 8-1, including 6-0 in the first half.

Andrew Johnstone wasn't busy, but did record a clean sheet in the victory.

The win moves Nipissing to 3-2-0 on the season and very much in the hunt for the post-season early in the year.

Next up, they'll face the Carleton Ravens this weekend on the road.

The Ravens edged Nipissing 2-0 in North Bay in late August.
