Box Score The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team hit a bit of a speed bump Sunday in Sudbury.
The Lakers, who were off to a great start at 3-1-1, dropped a 2-0 decision to the Laurentian Voyageurs in the second leg of the Riley Gallo Cup and 705 Challenge Cup.
After topping Laurentian Friday at home, the Lakers settled for the weekend split.
Laurentian scored just before halftime, at the 45-minute mark and then clinched the win with their second tally at the hour mark.
Nipissing pushed to cut their deficit in half, but were unable to find the back of the net and suffered their second loss of the season.
Mykaela Volpe suffered the loss in net despite making seven saves.
They're now 3-2-1, with a pair of key games coming up this weekend.
The Lakers remain on the road and face the division's to team, the Ottawa Gee Gees Saturday and the Carleton Ravens Sunday.
The Lakers earned a 1-1 draw against Ottawa and defeated the Ravens 2-0 in late August on home field.
Saturday's game against Carleton is set for 6pm, while Sunday's matchup with Ottawa is scheduled for 2pm, both in the Nation's Capital.
