WOMEN'S SOCCER: LAKERS AND RAMS PLAY TO A 2-2 DRAW

The good was that the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team earned a point, but the bad news was it could have been more.

The Lakers had a great first half and led 2-0, but the visiting Ryerson Rams fought back and scored twice in the second half to grab a single point and force the Lakers to do the same.

Nipissing got off to a great start, scoring just five minutes into the game thanks to a pretty play off a free-kick.

Kristen Farkas sent in a long kick, Abby Wroe got a touch on it and Taylor Barkley was in the perfect spot to tap it home to give Nipissing a 1-0 lead early.

Before the end of the half, the Lakers would extend their lead when Madison Logan continued her great season, finding the back of the net again.

She now leads the team with five goals this season.

Entering the second half, the Lakers appeared to be in good shape up a pair, but a quick Rams goals cut the lead to 2-1 before they tied it late in the game.

Both teams earn a point, as the Lakers move to 4-3-2 on the season.

Mykaela Volpe made 11 saves, picking up a tie on her personal record.

Nipissing will now look forward to a showdown with Toronto, as the teams jockey for position in the East Division standings.

Game time is set for Noon Sunday at the Nipissing Field.
