An early winning 2019 winning streak came to an end Saturday night as the Nipissing Lakers men's hockey dropped a decision to the Queens Gaels.
Nipissing led 1-0, but came up short, losing 4-1 in the end to the Gaels.
After a scoreless first period,
Brock Morrison got Nipissing on the board scoring just before the midway point of the middle frame.
Brett Jeffries picked up the lone helper on the goal.
Unfortunately that was the only goal the team would score.
Queens tied the game before the end of the period, sending the teams to the intermission even at one.
In the third, the Gaels scored twice in under a minute and sealed the game just after the midway mark of the final frame to make it 4-1.
Nipissing wasn't able to mount a comeback, losing by three.
Domenic Graham was handed the loss despite making 31 saves.
The Lakers are on the road to face UOIT and Carleton next weekend.
