Box Score 1 In their first action since the first semester, the Nipissing Lakers men's volleyball team was looking to snap out of their rut and get back to their winning ways.
Against two strong teams, the Lakers had their work cut out for them, but in the end, fell short of their goal.
The Lakers lost 3-1 to the York Lions Friday night before losing to the Ryerson Rams in straight sets Saturday.
The Lakers lost in four sets to York, losing the first two sets – 25-18 and 25-21 before rebounding for a win in the third set, 25-19.
York sealed the game in the fourth, however, winning 25-19 to claim the match.
Steve Wood and
Jeremie Murray each had 11 points to lead the Lakers offence, while
Curtis MacPherson and
Liam Ludlow had 9.5 apiece.
In the second match of the weekend, the Ram swept Nipissing, winning 26-24, 25-14 and 25-15.
Wood led the way again with nine points, while Murray chipped in with 5.5.
The Lakers will remain on the road and head to Guelph and Waterloo next weekend for a pair of matches.
