Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team continues to make strides and show heart.
Despite the results, the Lakers are much improved and getting better every day.
Nipissing dropped a pair on the road, losing 95-69 to the Queens Gaels and 78-69 to the York Lions.
The Lakers kept pace with Queens overall, but some hot shooting and veteran experience gave the Gaels the advantage.
Queens led by 12 after one and were up 46-32 at halftime.
In the third, the Gaels extended their lead from 14 to 24.
Nipissing had their best quarter in the fourth, but it was too late at that point and they fell to the fourth place Gaels.
Angeline Campbell had a team-high 24 points, while
Devanee Dewey chipped in with 12 for Nipissing.
Saturday, a slow start sunk Nipissing, as they battled to the end with the Lions.
The Lakers trailed 24-13 after one and were down 42-30 at halftime, but turned it around in the second half.
Nipissing outscored York 25-18 in the third and 39-36 in the final 20 minutes, but they came up just short in the end, losing by nine.
Jamie Soffer led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds, Campbell had 15 points and
Michaela Branker added 14.
Nipissing is back home to face Laurentian Friday night.
