Two was the magic number for the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team this weekend.
They had two wins,
Jade Gauthier had two goals in two games,
Maria Dominico had two points tonight and most importantly, the team won 2-0.
The Lakers, coming of a shootout win, shutout Laurier Saturday night to pick up their third straight win on the season.
Gauthier potted what ended up being the game-winner in the first period – assisted by Dominico and
Sam Strassburger.
The insurance marker came in the third, when Dominico scored her fourth of the season to seal the win.
Marilyn Fortin picked up the lone helper on the team's second goal of the game.
On the defensive side of the puck, Nipissing was outstanding, allowing just 13 shots and more importantly, zero goals.
Mercedes Chircop was perfect in net, making her first start of the season, as she turned aside all 13 shots for the shutout – the first of her career.
The Lakers now sit with a 11-3-1 record, which puts them in second place in the very competitive OUA.
Next up, Nipissing hits the road to face Windsor and Western next weekend.
