Box Score 1 In their final road trip of the season, the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team used a big second game to come away with a weekend split.
On Saturday, the Lakers allowed the final three goals of the game and fell to Ontario Tech 3-1 before bouncing back to blast Trent 5-0 Sunday.
In the weekend's first game.
Victoria Smith scored just before the half-hour mark for the Lakers to put them up 1-0, but from there it was all Ontario Tech.
The Ridgebacks scored about 10 minutes later to tie things up sending the teams to the halftime break even at 1-1.
The Ridgebacks would score the only two goals in the second half, with the game-winner coming at the 68-minute mark, followed by the insurance goal at the 80 th minute.
Mykaela Volpe finished with three saves in the loss.
Sunday's game was a completely different story, as it was all Nipissing all day.
The scoring began at the 10-minute mark as
Ashley Mlinaric scored her first of three on the day.
Cameron Brodie earned the assist on the game's opening goal.
Victoria Smith scored just minutes before the half-hour mark for her second goal of the weekend.
About 10 minutes after that, Mlinaric scored her second of the game to send Nipissing to the halftime break up 3-0.
Mlinaric completed the hat-trick at the 58-minute mark, set up by
Madison Logan.
And for good measure,
Avery Duguay added another goal late in the game to round out the scoring.
The Lakers dominated the game, finishing with 17 attempts on goal and nine shots.
Volpe needed just one save to earn the shutout.
Nipissing wraps up the regular season this weekend when they host the RMC Paladins and Queens Gaels.
Both games are set for Noon at Nipissing Field.
