LACROSSE: LAKERS FALL TO MCGILL; LOOK AHEAD TO PLAYOFFS

In their final game of the regular season, the Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team faced off against the league's top team and despite a strong effort, came up short in the end.

The Lakers dropped a hard-fought 11-7 decision to McGill Saturday evening in Montreal as both teams now look towards the post-season.

The Lakers finished the season with a 6-4 record, good for third place in the East Division and they will now prepare to host a game in Round 1 of the CUFLA Playoffs.

The difference in Saturday's game was the second quarter, as McGill outscored Nipissing 6-1, to give them the advantage and a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

After ending the first frame tied 2-2, McGill exploded in the second and took an 8-3 lead into halftime.

Nipissing got one back in the third, cutting their deficit by one – 9-5 after three.

Both teams scored twice in the fourth and McGill hung on for the victory.

Will Craig had four goals to lead the Lakers, Scott Dominey had two goals and an assist and Tyler Poole had the other Nipissing goal.

Tanner Poole finished with a pair of assists, as well.

Nipissing will now focus on the playoffs which take place the weekend of Nov. 2 and 3.

The Lakers official opponent and game time are still to be determined, however, they will be hosting a game that weekend in the first round of the post-season.
