A late push wasn't enough for the Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team, as they came up short taking on the nationally ranked Ryerson Rams.
The Rams built up a 2-0 lead and held on for a 2-1 win over the Lakers Saturday afternoon.
Ryerson scored just before halftime to go up 1-0 and they scored early in the second half to move ahead by a pair.
Nipissing would reply in the 58 th minute, with
Jack Collins continuing his strong season scoring the lone goal of the game for the Lakers.
He rushed on to the ball, followed up on a rebound and tuck the ball nicely into the back of the net to get Nipissing within one.
That was as close as they'd get, however, as a late push wasn't enough.
Andrew Johnstone finished with six saves in the loss.
Nipissing will get back at it Sunday afternoon when they host another strong team, the Toronto Varsity Blues.
Game time is set for 2:15pm at Nipissing Field.
