In a very physical and intense game, resembling a playoff match, the Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team came up with a gutsy effort.
Two goals by
Ashley Mlinaric led Nipissing to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Ryerson Rams, as the Lakers picked up their second straight win.
After a back and forth first half, the Lakers were the first team to strike, as Mlinaric found the back of the net after a pass from
Madison Logan.
The goal gave Nipissing the lead entering the half.
They would hold on to the advantage until the 60 th minute when the Rams tied things up to set up an exciting final 30.
But Nipissing would reply just three minutes later.
Mlinaric potted her second of the game to give Nipissing the lead.
From there, the Lakers locked things down and held on for the victory.
Mykaela Volpe earned the victory in net, finishing with five saves.
They'll look to make it three in a row when they host Toronto Sunday afternoon.
