The Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team deserved better this weekend, but came up short on the scoreboard.
The Lakers dropped a pair of games, including Sunday's 2-0 setback to the Toronto Varsity Blues despite a lot of pressure.
Toronto scored early, finding the back of the net just two minutes into the game to move ahead 1-0.
Despite some chances, Nipissing was unable to punch through.
The Lakers couldn't convert on a penalty kick in the second half and the Blues would put the game away with a late marker, at the 74-minute mark.
That second goal put the game away.
Andrew Johnstone finished with five saves, while the Lakers had five shots on goal of their own.
Nipissing is back in action next weekend on the road, at Ontario Tech and Trent – Saturday and Sunday.
