For the second straight match, the Nipissing Lakers men's volleyball team put on a show and played an exciting, hard-hitting match.

This time, unfortunately, they came up short, losing 3-1 to the visiting Ryerson Rams at the Surtees Athletic Centre.

All four games were close, with both teams taking over and grabbing momentum at different times.

In the opening set, the Lakers trailed 16-15 at the technical timeout and while they fought back, the Rams pulled away late and claimed the match 25-20.

Nipissing bounced back in a big way, leading 16-12 at the second set break before pulling ahead and evening the match with a victory.

Once again, the Lakers found themselves trailing in the third set, down 16-12 at the break.

They fought back, but came up short, losing 25-21 as the Rams pulled within a set of the match victory.

Like the first three sets, the teams went toe-to-toe and it came down to the final few points to decide a winner.

The Rams pulled away late to come up with a 25-23 win and escape with the victory.

The four-set match could have gone either way, but it's the Rams who came out on top.

Nipissing will look to bounce back on Sunday when they hit the road to take on the Trent Excalibur in Peterborough.

Match time is set for 3pm.
