It was an exciting night of basketball at the Surtees Athletic Centre Saturday night.
The Lakers welcomed the Windsor Lancers to town, who are coming off a win Friday night against Laurentian in Sudbury.
The teams traded points all night, with a number of lead changes, ties and momentum shifts throughout the 40 minutes of action.
In the end, Windsor escaped with a 83-72 victory over the Lakers.
The teams got off to a bit of a tentative start, but it was Nipissing attempted to pull away and led 14-13 late in the quarter.
After 10 minutes, Nipissing held a five point lead, 18-13.
In the second, Windsor fought back and took a 29-20 lead into the late stages of the half.
Both teams found their legs in the third quarter and started to heat up shooting the ball.
Late in the quarter, Nipissing held a slight 50-48 advantage and at the end of three, they were on top of Windsor 54-50.
With eight minutes left in the fourth, the game was tied 59-59, but Windsor was able to pull away as time went on.
The Lancers led 74-65 late and closed out the win despite allowing the Lakers to score seven more points in the final minutes of the game.
Windsor eventually came away with the 83-72 triumph.
Nipissing remains at home and will play host to the Western Mustangs next Saturday at 8pm.
