Saturday night was a tough one for the Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team, as they welcomed a very strong, skilled Windsor Lancers team to North Bay.
The Lancers, who entered the game undefeated, put together four strong quarters and came away with a 72-34 victory over the Lakers.
The Lancers jumped out to a quick start and set the tone for the game.
The first quarter was exciting as both teams used their speed to run the court, but it was Windsor who held the advantage, up 22-14.
A big second quarter by the Lancers had them in control at halftime.
They outscored Nipissing 17-5 in the second and led 39-19 at the break.
Windsor dominated the third quarter as well, extending their lead to 56-19 late in the quarter an finishing 30 minutes, leading the Lakers 59-25.
As is always the case, the Lakers refused to quit and fought back in the fourth, but the difference was too large.
In the end, Nipissing lost 72-34 to the Lancers.
Nipissing is back in action next weekend when they host the Western Mustangs on Saturday night.
