The Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team came up short on the road, losing twice in Ottawa, to close out the semester.
The Lakers lost 91-44 to the Ottawa Gee Gees Friday night, before falling 78-47 to the Carleton Ravens Saturday.
In the first contest of the weekend, the Lakers started slow and trailed 53-21 at halftime.
They improved in the second half, scoring 23 points, but it wasn't enough against the nationally ranked Gee Gees.
Nicole Budd led the way with 14 points, while
Finnley McElwain added six in the contest.
On Saturday, the middle of the game was the difference, as the Ravens outscored Nipissing 40-18 in the second and third quarters combined.
Nipissing trailed 17-11 after the first and 37-21 at halftime.
And despite a late push in the fourth quarter, the Lakers fell short as Carleton posted 41 points in the second half.
Maria Walsh posted a game-high 14 points and
Brianna Dodd added nine points in the game.
Nipissing is off until the new year, when they hit the court against Carleton and Ottawa at home.
