MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS PLAYOFF HOPES HIT A SNAG

As they continue their late push for a playoff spot, the Nipissing Lakers men's volleyball team ran into a hurdle on the weekend.

Sitting just four points back of the final spot in the East Division, Nipissing dropped a pair of matches on the road.

Saturday they fell 3-0 to the McMaster Marauders and Sunday dropped a 3-1 decision to the Brock Badgers.

Against the extremely talent Marauders, the Lakers lost 25-17, 25-15 and 25-16 in the weekend's opening match.

Curtis MacPherson led the attack with seven kills and eight points, Steve Wood had 6.5 points and Liam Ludlow picked up six points in the contest.

Sunday as they closed out the weekend, Nipissing got off to a great start, winning the first set 25-20, but came up short in the next three, losing 26-24, 25-22 and 25-20.

Steve Wood had a monster game, picking up 23 kills and 26 points, Ludlow had 16.5 points, while MacPherson chipped in with another eight points.

Nipissing will host Windsor and Western this weekend in their final home matches of the regular season.

Matches are set for 2pm both days at the RJS Athletic Centre.
