While it was a three set match, it was very tightly contested by the Nipissing Lakers men's volleyball team and the visiting Windsor Lancers.
The Lancers came away with the victory, defeating Nipissing 25-18, 25-19 and 25-22 Saturday afternoon, but the match could have easily swung the other direction.
At the technical timeout in the first set, Windsor led 16-14, but took over late, outscoring the Lakers 9-4 to grab the lead.
The second set was very similar with Windsor leading 16-15 at the break and they once again pushed the pace late and came away with the victory to take a stranglehold on the match.
In the third and what turned out to be final set, the teams traded points early on, but it was the Lancers who once again had the advantage at the mid-set break.
Down 24-19, the Lakers scored three straight points to get within striking distance, but a big kill at the end gave the Lancers the victory.
Steve Wood led the Lakers with 15 kills and 17 points, while
Curtis MacPherson added 6 kills and 6.5 points for the Lakers against Windsor.
Nipissing hosts Western Sunday afternoon at 2pm at the RJS Athletic Centre.
