WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS SPLIT WEEKEND, BUT END YEAR WITH A WIN

Box Score 1 While they won't be advancing to the OUA post-season, the Nipissing Lakers women's volleyball team ended the season in style Sunday.

After falling to the powerful Toronto Varsity Blues 3-0 Saturday, the Lakers bounced back to sweep the Trent Excalibur Sunday to wrap up the 2018-19 campaign.

Against Toronto, the Lakers fell 25-15, 25-10 and 25-15 to the second place Blues.

Shannon Lebreux and Averi Bodnar led the way with five points each against Toronto.

The next day, in the season finale, Nipissing defeated Trent 25-13, 25-20 and 25-19 to end the year with a win – their fifth of the season.

Cassie Dobson led the way with 13 points, which included five kills, Shayla Kessler had nine kills and 12.5 points and Olivia Robinson added 5.5 points in the win.

The Lakers once again finished fifth in the division, one spot out of the post-season, but were able to end the season on a high note.
