MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS EARN A SWEEP OF THE PALADINS

The Nipissing Lakers men's volleyball team found their way back into the win column in convincing fashion Sunday afternoon.

The Lakers swept the RMC Paladins 3-0 to pick up the victory and earn a weekend split at home.

Nipissing won the first set thanks to a strong start and carried that throughout.

They built up a 16-9 lead on their way to a 25-23 win, holding off a late push by the Paladins.

In the second set, a 16-11 advantage at the mid-set break had Nipissing in good shape to move up 2-0 and they made no mistakes.

The Lakers once again shut down RMC at the right times, picking up a 25-19 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third and what turned out to be final set, Nipissing held an 11-7 advantage early on and stretched that advantage to 16-11 at the break.

Late in the set, the Lakers led 22-13 as they looked to close out the match.

The cushion they had built up was enough to earn the 25-14 win and the match victory.

Leading the way for the Lakers were Liam Ludlow who each had 12 kills and 13.5 points, while Curtis MacPherson added 11 kills and 12.5 points in Sunday's victory.

Nipissing hits the road and heads to McMaster and Brock next weekend.
