A slow start hurt the Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team, as they fought back, but fell short in the matchup with the Trent Excalibur Saturday evening.
Despite a late push, a four-goal deficit was too much to overcome, as they fell 11-9 in the end.
Nipissing trailed 5-1 after the first and closed the gap before halftime, but still found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-3 scored.
In the third, Trent extended their lead and ultimately put the game away.
Thanks to a four goal outburst from Trent, Nipissing fell behind 10-5 after three frames.
The Lakers battled back, outscoring the Excalibur 4-1 in the final quarter, but it just wasn't enough at the end of the day.
Scott Dominey led the way with four goals, while
Tanner Poole had two goals and six points.
Will Craig,
Bo Peltier each added a goal and an assist,
Sam Rooney had two helpers and
Riley Sloan potted a single for Nipissing.
The Lakers will look to bounce back when they hit the road this weekend, taking on Ottawa Saturday and Queens Sunday – both on the road.
