WOMEN'S SOCCER: LAKERS FALL TO VEES IN SUDBURY

The Nipissing Lakers women's soccer team settled for a split this past weekend, claiming a victory at home Saturday before falling on the road Sunday.

Coming of a 4-0 win over Trent at home, the Lakers fell short Sunday, losing 3-1 on the road to the Laurentian Voyageurs.

The Vees jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals just one minute apart in the first half.

The 2-0 deficit remained until Madison Logan scored her third goal of the weekend at the 76-minute mark to setup a tight finish.

Unfortunately, the Voyageurs would add another goal, late in the game, to seal Nipissing's fate.

The result had the two teams split the season-series, with each team winning at home.

Joy Simpson finished was tagged with the loss, making her first start of the season.

Nipissing fired 10 shots at the Laurentian net, but managed just the one goal.

The Lakers remain on the road, making their way to Kingston for games against RMC Saturday and Queens Sunday.
