What a weekend for the Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team.
The Lakers came up with two huge road wings, edging the Ottawa Gee Gees 11-10 in overtime Saturday before slipping pas the Queens Gaels 5-4 Sunday afternoon in Kingston.
On Saturday, a hot start and a late push gave Nipissing the victory, as they eliminated a sluggish second quarter to earn the win.
The Lakers went up 4-1 after the first, but found themselves down 6-4 at halftime as the Gee Gees had a monster second quarter.
Nipissing outscored Ottawa 3-2 in the third and fourth quarters, sending the game to overtime.
In the extra frame,
Bo Peltier potted the winner to give Nipissing the two points.
Tanner Poole had a goal and four assists, Peltier finished with four goals, including the game-winner,
Scott Dominey had a hat-trick, along with an assist,
Will Craig scored twice and
Riley Sloan scored as well.
A low scoring affair saw Nipissing pull out the victory Sunday against Queens thanks to two late goals.
Nipissing led 3-2 at halftime, but the Gaels took the lead after three quarters.
Down one in the final frame, Nipissing scored twice to come away with a second straight road win and have now won four of their last five games.
Peltier continued his great weekend, scoring twice, while Sloan, Craig and
Quinn Harding added singles.
Up next, Nipissing hosts Ottawa Saturday at 5pm at Nipissing Field before finishing the season with three straight road games the following week.
