The Nipissing Lakers men's soccer team was involved in a pair of one-goal games on the weekend, finishing the road trip with a split.
On Saturday, the Lakers came up short, losing 2-1 to the Queens Gaels, while on Sunday, they edged the RMC Paladins by the same score.
In the opening game of the weekend, the Gaels opened up the scored at the 30-minute mark and remained in the lead until late in the game.
The Gaels added a goal to go up 2-0 at the 70-minute before Nipissing replied.
Ryan Roy scored just 12 minutes before the final whistle, but it wasn't enough as the Lakers fell by a goal.
Andrew Johnstone got the start, but was replaced by
Gabriel Pastore.
On Sunday, Nipissing jumped out to a 2-0 lead and held on for the victory over RMC.
Jack Collins scored the game's opening goal early in the second half.
The teams then traded goals in the dying minutes as Will Tsilkas gave Nipissing a 2-0 lead just seconds before RMC found the back of the net.
The goal by Tsilkas turned out to be the game-winner as the contest had some late dramatics.
Pastore picked up his first career win in goal.
The Lakers now return home for two games in North Bay.
They'll host Ryerson Saturday and Toronto Sunday – both games starting at 2:15pm at Nipissing Field.
