WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: LAKERS COME UP SHORT ON LONG ROAD TRIP

Box Score 1 A long road trip didn't go the way the Nipissing Lakers women's basketball team was planning.

The Lakers dropped a pair of games, falling to the York Lions 84-70 in Toronto and 86-49 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay.

On Friday's school day game, Nipissing trailed 39-28 at halftime and posted 42 points in the second half, but York answered.

The Lions scored 45 of their own in the final 20 minutes to hold on to the victory.

Devisha Binns led the way with 17 points, Celeste Dupuis had 16 and Nicole Budd added 11 in the contest.

Saturday, the Lakers lost to the Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay.

A slow start had Nipissing behind early on and they weren't able to recover, trailing 43-19 at halftime.

Lakehead extended their lead in the second half, outscoring the Lakers 43-30 to pick up the victory.

Dupuis led the Lakers with 13, while Kate Dahmer added 7.

Nipissing is back in action this weekend, hosting Guelph and Algoma at the Surtees Athletic Centre.

Both games are set to start at 6pm.
