Looking to make it two wins in a row and three in their last four games, the Nipissing Lakers men's basketball team hit the court in their final home game of the regular season.
The Lakers hosted the Algoma Thunderbirds at the Surtees Athletic Centre and completed the weekend sweep, defeating Algoma 79-67.
In the first, Nipissing started strong, posting 22 points and taking an early four point advantage into the break.
Algoma answered in second quarter, outscoring Nipissing 15-10 to head to the halftime intermission up a single point, 33-32.
A hot start to the second half saw the Lakers scored eight out of the first 10 points to regain the lead.
Nipissing used a big third quarter, outscoring Algoma by 10, 27-17, to grab a nine point lead heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, the Lakers held on to their cushion and extended their lead by three, winning the quarter 20-17, and walking away with the 12 point win.
Quintin Ashitei led the way with 22 points,
Shandon Ashitei had 20,
Justin Shaver added 15 and
Layee Jabateh had 11 in tonight's victory.
Nipissing is back in action next weekend at Ontario Tech and at Queens.
